Intro to Dragon Boat Racing for Women
Learn how to paddle a dragon boat! Soaring down a race course in a long, narrow, canoe-like boat, 20 paddlers moving in synchronicity toward that finish line, is a feeling like nothing else! Here’s an opportunity to enjoy learning this sport, meet new people and spend time on our beautiful White Bear Lake! Try it out! You will have four, weekly training sessions (one hour each) with a race and catered picnic on the last day!
Paddles, boat, and life jackets provided (though if you have your own life jacket, please bring it).
Requirements: You must be at least age 18 and have a basic level of fitness.
Refunds are not available unless we can fill your spot.
Your $205 registration fee covers training, coaching, equipment, quick-dry shirt, race and picnic lunch.
Practices: Mondays, June 8, 15, 22, 29 (7-8 pm)
Location: Matoska Park in White Bear Lake
Race Day: Saturday, July 11th (9 am-noon)
Karen Elizabeth Anderson
With over 20 years of experience coaching dragon boat teams, Karen Anderson has great passion for the sport! What started as a once-a-year activity for her has grown to coaching community teams as well as her own Off the Edge women's dragon boat team on White Bear Lake. Off the Edge has grown to be the premiere women's team in the midwest, racing in the USA as well as internationally. Karen loves to introduce the sport to women and see the sense of fun, confidence and accomplishment they feel from paddling.
