How to Make Lefse (Norwegian potato flatbread) (ages 10+) - NEW
Lefse (LEF-sah) is a wonderful Norwegian flatbread often made with mashed potatoes. This delicacy is made for banquets, holidays, weddings and all special occasions! Lefse can be served with scrambled eggs and smoked fish, or cheese and jam, or butter and cinnamon-sugar, or hot dogs, or really any topping that appeals to you!
We will use real potatoes to make a number of authentic recipes; and a modern version using instant potatoes! You'll learn the finer points of making the dough, baking, and storing your Lefse with a little bit of history and humor added in. Plan to sample your Lefse, warm creations with traditional filings and take home finished lefts and dough to bake at home. If you are Norwegian and miss your Grandmother's Lefse, this is the class for you, if not, you are in for a wonderful treat! Students Ages 10+ must attend with a registered adult.
A $9 supply fee due at class. Bring containers for Lefse and dough to take home.
