Stained Glass 101 - NEW
Learn the art of stained glass design and building with John Hanson, Owner of Longfellow Soap Company, who has been designing, creating, repairing, and restoring antique stained glass windows for 25 years. All tools and materials will be provided and each student will take home a small window. Safety glasses must be brought and used while cutting and grinding the glass. You will learn how to make, cut, and use patterns, cut and grind glass, tape your glass with copper foil, solder your glass, finish the edges with a zinc border, and add rings for hanging. He will also discuss how to use patina and polish to finish the panel. No experience needed.
Students ages 12+ must be with a registered adult. Material fee of $30 due day of class payable to the instructor by cash or check. You must have sufficient arm and hand strength to cut and break glass.

John has been making soap for fifteen years and teaching classes for twelve. Over five hundred people have learned the art of soapmaking through classes and has created numerous YouTube videos to assist students.
John’s career includes 45 years in retail/wholesale purchasing, product design, material sourcing, carpentry, and custom kitchen cabinet building. He also does wood turning and teaches copper foil stained glass classes.F26.5StainedGlass
