History with Kathy Simmer: “Women Who Broke The Codes" - NEW
The U.S. Army and Navy secretly recruited more than 10,000 women—including teachers, linguists, and math whizzes from small towns and elite colleges—during World War II.Their job was to to crack encrypted military codes sent by the Germans and Japanese. Bound by strict military oaths of silence, their contributions to national security and early computing remained largely hidden for 75 years.

Kathy Simmer taught in the St. Paul Public School District and was always very interested in historical research. Kathy presents about American history topics for various organizations. She likes to include the details that are often left out of the history books. All of her portion of the class fee is donated to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research.
