Adult Pottery - Hand Building & Wheel Instruction with Stoneware Clay - NEWArts, Crafts & CulinaryIn this three session class, participants will be introduced to basic techniques of hand building, throwing on a potter’s wheel, and glazing. Using stoneware clay and earth tone glazes, participants will create pieces of art using an electric wheel, slab roller and extruder. How to Make Lefse (Norwegian potato flatbread) (ages 10+) - NEWArts, Crafts & CulinaryLefse (LEF-sah) is a wonderful Norwegian flatbread often made with mashed potatoes. This delicacy is made for banquets, holidays, weddings and all special occasions! Lefse can be served with scrambled eggs and smoked fish, or cheese and jam, or butter and cinnamon-sugar, or hot dogs, or really any topping that appeals to you! We will use real potatoes to make a number of authentic recipes; and a modern version using instant potatoes! You'll learn the finer points of making the dough, baking, and storing your Lefse with a little bit of history and humor added in. Plan to sample your Lefse, warm creations with traditional filings and take home finished lefts and dough to bake at home. If you are Norwegian and miss your Grandmother's Lefse, this is the class for you, if not, you are in for a wonderful treat! Students Ages 10+ must attend with a registered adult. Sourdough 101Arts, Crafts & CulinaryCome learn the Art of Sourdough! This is a very hands-on class where you get to go through all the initial steps of mixing the dough, discuss the whole process of how to make a loaf of bread, feed your new sourdough starter and learn how to maintain it, and get every question answered! Materials and ingredients are provided: a bowl, a jar with sourdough starter, a dough whisk, a spatula, flour, water, salt, a handout with access to a very informative guide that will help you throughout your sourdough journey, and you also get to taste some fresh bread and sourdough cookies throughout class! (all materials are YOURS to bring home). You have the choice to bring your own food scale or we will provide one for you to keep for an additional $15 fee. Stained Glass 101 - NEWArts, Crafts & CulinaryLearn the art of stained glass design and building with John Hanson, Owner of Longfellow Soap Company, who has been designing, creating, repairing, and restoring antique stained glass windows for 25 years. All tools and materials will be provided and each student will take home a small window. Safety glasses must be brought and used while cutting and grinding the glass. You will learn how to make, cut, and use patterns, cut and grind glass, tape your glass with copper foil, solder your glass, finish the edges with a zinc border, and add rings for hanging. He will also discuss how to use patina and polish to finish the panel. No experience needed. Students ages 12+ must be with a registered adult. Material fee of $30 due day of class payable to the instructor by cash or check. You must have sufficient arm and hand strength to cut and break glass.2026 Fall -
