John Hanson, Owner/Maker of Longfellow Soap Company, will walk you through each step of the process, explaining how simple natural ingredients are transformed into handmade soap. Due to the use of lye, this class is presented in a demonstration format for safety, allowing you to learn so you can confidently recreate the process at home. Each participant will receive a copy of a comprehensive teaching manual to take home. This includes an ingredient list, recommended equipment, recipes, step-by-step instructions, and trusted sources for purchasing essential oils, ingredients, and supplies. Stained Glass 101 - NEWArts, Crafts & CulinaryLearn the art of stained glass design and building with John Hanson, Owner of Longfellow Soap Company, who has been designing, creating, repairing, and restoring antique stained glass windows for 25 years. All tools and materials will be provided and each student will take home a small window. Safety glasses must be brought and used while cutting and grinding the glass. You will learn how to make, cut, and use patterns, cut and grind glass, tape your glass with copper foil, solder your glass, finish the edges with a zinc border, and add rings for hanging. He will also discuss how to use patina and polish to finish the panel. No experience needed. Students ages 12+ must be with a registered adult. Material fee of $30 due day of class payable to the instructor by cash or check. You must have sufficient arm and hand strength to cut and break glass.2026 Fall
