Introduction to Shinrin-Yoku: Forest Walking Meditation - FREEGeneral Interest & moreThis session is an introduction to Forest Bathing, an ancient Japanese practice of spending time in nature, specifically in areas with trees, to enhance well-being. The term "bathing" is used because participants immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the forest (nothing to do with actual water or bathing). Learn more about Forest Bathing here. This event will include a brief overview of Forest Bathing and followed by a slow walk through the trails of Katherine Abbott park, allowing each person to observe and feel immersed in the surroundings. Participants must be able to walk the gravel (and in some places uneven) path. Wear bug spray or sunscreen as needed. Participants will be asked to silence phones during the session. We will cancel if rain prevents us from being outside. Facilitated by Michelle Bahrke, certified meditation teacher, and community members Nicole Then and Sarah Newman.Michelle also offers monthly meditation sessions: LINK2026 Fall -
