Barre BasicsFitness & RecreationLooking for a fitness class that is fun, effective, and close to home? Barre Basics is a group exercise class being offered through Community Education. This class offers a wide variety of low-impact exercises that combine elements of ballet, Pilates, yoga and strength training. Barre focuses on engaging specific muscles until they reach fatigue, followed by stretching to create long, lean, and toned muscles. Barre is a great way to build total body strength, improve flexibility, and relieve stress. This class is open to all fitness levels, with modifications available to help you safely perform exercises. Please bring a yoga mat, resistance band, and a light set of hand weights (2 lb or similar). Sticky/grip socks are also recommended. *Please note: This class is held on Wednesdays except for 6/9 and 7/21, which are on Tuesdays.2026 Summer -
Goat Yoga (Ages 12+) - NEWFitness & RecreationEnjoy a one-of-a-kind 45-minute private goat yoga fitness class led by an experienced, certified instructor, where you get to choose the intensity level that’s right for you. This fun and relaxing class takes place at the Hayloft ranch in an open-air pavilion, sheltered but surrounded by fresh air and scenic ranch views. After class, stay an extra 15 minutes to take photos, cuddle, and connect with our adorable Nigerian Dwarf goats. Children ages 12 and up are welcome when accompanied by a registered adult, making this a perfect activity for families, friends, or a group. Classes are held rain or shine, and the pavilion is not heated or air-conditioned, so please dress for the weather—layers are recommended. Soaring down a race course in a long, narrow, canoe-like boat, 20 paddlers moving in synchronicity toward that finish line, is a feeling like nothing else! Here’s an opportunity to enjoy learning this sport, meet new people and spend time on our beautiful White Bear Lake! Try it out! You will have four, weekly training sessions (one hour each) with a race and catered picnic on the last day! Paddles, boat, and life jackets provided (though if you have your own life jacket, please bring it). Requirements: You must be at least age 18 and have a basic level of fitness. Refunds are not available unless we can fill your spot. Your $205 registration fee covers training, coaching, equipment, quick-dry shirt, race and picnic lunch. Kayak Full Moon Adventure - NEWFitness & RecreationJoin us for a guided Full Moon Adventure kayaking experience on a kayak friendly lake! This two- hour experience, guided by SilverFinn Kayaking, begins with a relaxed paddle at sunset and continues into the evening as participants enjoy the peaceful transition to moonlight on the water. The experience is designed to be both recreational and restorative, offering participants an opportunity to connect with nature, enjoy local waterways, and engage in a unique community-based outdoor activity. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign waivers and select your equipment. This program is suitable for beginners and recreational paddlers. All instruction and safety guidance will be provided on-site. All equipment provided includes kayaks, paddles, U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket, and waterproof cases for phones and keys. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that can get wet. Participants should bring drinking water, a. flashlight, and bug spray. All necessary equipment is provided, including kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and a waterproof case for phones and keys. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign waivers and select your equipment. Mat PilatesFitness & RecreationFeeling overwhelmed and flustered? Get out of your head and onto the mat! Fire up your core, increase your flexibility and strength in your entire body as you flow through a series of dynamic movements that will restore balance and proper body alignment. Mat Pilates is a form of exercises that can be modified for all to participate. The key components are: incorporating and understanding the importance of your breath, increasing awareness and improving balance and posture, strengthening and toning the muscles in the body, with a strong emphasis on the core. Tai ChiFitness & RecreationTai Chi is a Chinese exercise discipline that utilizes a series of slow, graceful, low impact body movements, and specialized breathing techniques, to improve balance, health, and relaxation. Join us and see for yourself how Tai Chi can enhance your fitness, increase your sense of tranquility, and elevate you to new levels of vitality and well being. The 24 form Yang style of Tai Chi will be the focus of our class. The Yang style is the most widely practiced style in the world, and affords students and practitioners innumerable health, wellness, and vitality benefits. This style can be learned in eight weeks of training and instruction. This accessibility makes the style appealing to a broad range of practitioners, allowing individuals of all skill levels to engage and benefit from its continued practice without the pressure of advancing through multiple levels. This can foster a more inclusive environment, encouraging personal growth and enjoyment of the art form. As this is outside, you will be contacted via email if weather does not permit us to be outdoors. Women Who Walk - FREEFitness & RecreationWalking has proven benefits for physical and mental health - and it's even better when the walk includes members of the community! Specific dates/times/locations are TBD, but will likely follow the spring schedule of Thursdays at 9 AM. Walks will be held in Mahtomedi. *All dates are subject to change and will be communicated via email to people who are registered. Walks are typically 45-60 minutes, with the option to shorten or extend the walk. The goal is to make the walk accessible for different levels of endurance. Routes may vary based on group preference and weather. Friendly dogs are welcome!
