Barre BasicsFitness & RecreationLooking for a new fitness class that is fun, effective, and close to home? Barre Basics is a new group exercise class being offered through Community Education. This class will offer a wide variety of low-impact exercises that combine elements of ballet, Pilates, yoga and strength training. Barre focuses on engaging specific muscles until they reach fatigue, followed by stretching to create long, lean, and toned muscles. Barre is a great way to build total body strength, improve flexibility, and relieve stress. This class is open to all fitness levels, with modifications available to help you safely perform exercises. Please bring a yoga mat, resistance band, and a light set of hand weights (2 lb or similar). Sticky/grip socks are also recommended.2026 Fall -
Nordic Pole WalkingFitness & RecreationDo you already walk for enjoyment or exercise? Nordic Pole Walking will turn a simple walk into a full body workout without feeling like you are working any harder! This style of walking will increase your heart rate and create resistance to build better bone density while working your upper body as well as your legs. It uses specially designed poles-not to be confused with trekking poles - to enhance your natural walking experience. Burn more calories, improve your posture and gait. Paddle Up! Pickleball BasicsFitness & RecreationNew to pickleball? We’ll get you playing fast. You’ll learn grips, footwork, scoring, and all the essential rules, then build confidence with fun, coach-led drills covering serves, dinking, volleys, and game strategy. Small group sizes mean plenty of feedback and game time to put your skills into action. We recommend bringing your own paddle if you have one, but the coach will have extras for anyone who needs to borrow. No experience required—just show up ready to learn and play.2026 Fall -

Stillness & Connection: Monthly Meditation - NEWFitness & RecreationJoin us for a guided meditation class designed for both beginners and experienced meditators. Each session begins with a brief teaching on the evenings meditation focus and simple ways to bring meditation into everyday life. We then move into a quiet guided mediation to create stillness and inner connection, ending with a group mediation centered on love and collective healing for our world. Attendees are also invited to share reflections in a supportive space. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, blankets or pillows - anything that will help you feel warm and relaxed during class. Chairs will be provided. Join us and see for yourself how Tai Chi can enhance your fitness, increase your sense of tranquility, and elevate you to new levels of vitality and well being. The 24 form Yang style of Tai Chi will be the focus of our class. The Yang style is the most widely practiced style in the world, and affords students and practitioners innumerable health, wellness, and vitality benefits. This style can be learned in eight weeks of training and instruction. This accessibility makes the style appealing to a broad range of practitioners, allowing individuals of all skill levels to engage and benefit from its continued practice without the pressure of advancing through multiple levels. This can foster a more inclusive environment, encouraging personal growth and enjoyment of the art form. As this is outside, you will be contacted via email if weather does not permit us to be outdoors. Walks will begin at the District Education Center, Veteran's Memorial Park or another Mahtomedi location. Each week's starting point will be communicated via email. *All dates are subject to change and will be communicated via email to people who are registered.Walks are typically 45-60 minutes, with the option to shorten or extend the walk. The goal is to make the walk accessible for different levels of endurance. Routes may vary based on group preference and weather. Friendly dogs are welcome! Registration is required, but you do not have to commit to every week. In case of schedule changes or cancellations, you will be contacted via email.
