Upper level beginner’s class for girls and boys in grades K-6. Learn progressions in the upper-level basic skills of tumbling, balance beam, uneven bars and springboard preparations. Students must meet the class skill requirements listed below and, if requirements are not met, will be placed in Beginners. Participants must have some gymnastics experience and meet the following skill requirements: advance cartwheel (alone), round off (alone), back walkover (light spot).

Join the MHS Gymnastics team and Varsity Coach, Debbie Driscoll, for our 6th Annual Clinic. Gymnastics team and coaches will lead a fun morning filled with gymnastics event stations and games! All skill levels welcome! Wear a leotard or tight fitting clothing for active participation. Get to know and interact with the Zephyr high school gymnastics team, one of the elite high school programs in the state. Bring a water bottle and a snack. Proceeds will go to the MHS Gymnastics Booster Club.

Prerequisite: This is an advanced gymnastic class. These classes are open to girls completing grades 9-11, who are attending Mahtomedi schools and have the required skills to join the high school team. Girls completing 7th & 8th grade should contact Coach Driscoll for registration permission.

Participants will attend evening rehearsals and be provided with music, learning materials and vocal coaching, culminating in December performance opportunities. You’ll learn the answers to those questions and also what has been done to prevent or accomplish rigging elections now and in the future. This class is designed specifically for younger students, with age-appropriate content and instruction. Students will build independence and develop important safety awareness skills to help prepare them for staying home alone. The class also includes take-home materials that students and parents should complete together before the child begins staying home alone independently.

Get ready to explore the world of horses with an exciting, hands-on experience based on the Spark Equestrian curriculum. At Hardwood Creek Farm, students will learn the fundamentals of horse care, from grooming and halter leading to handling reins and beginner riding commands, just like in a first riding lesson! We will finish the day with some making homemade horse treats and playing a few games! Don’t worry about the weather, we have an indoor heated arena as well as outdoor spaces. Students should come dressed for adventure: long pants, closed-toe shoes, and layers for indoor and outdoor activities. Students will also need a water bottle and a nut-free lunch.

Lefse (LEF-sah) is a wonderful Norwegian flatbread often made with mashed potatoes. This delicacy is made for banquets, holidays, weddings and all special occasions! Lefse can be served with scrambled eggs and smoked fish, or cheese and jam, or butter and cinnamon-sugar, or hot dogs, or really any topping that appeals to you! We will use real potatoes to make a number of authentic recipes; and a modern version using instant potatoes! You'll learn the finer points of making the dough, baking, and storing your Lefse with a little bit of history and humor added in. Plan to sample your Lefse, warm creations with traditional filings and take home finished lefts and dough to bake at home. If you are Norwegian and miss your Grandmother's Lefse, this is the class for you, if not, you are in for a wonderful treat! Students Ages 10+ must attend with a registered adult. A $9 supply fee due at class. Bring containers for Lefse and dough to take home.

You will learn ways to improve your bidding techniques with these modern techniques, better responses to one notrump openings, ways to handle the strong two club opening and ways to get to makeable small and grand slams. All materials are provided.

Bring some greenery into your kitchen and always have fresh herbs on hand! In this workshop, participants will assemble a cedar box (measuring 5” X 12” X 6”) to house a combination of different herbs, all of which they’ll take home. We’ll delve into the art of planting and harvesting herbs, provide guidance on caring for the plants, and explore the advantages of organic gardening practices and companion planting. This workshop welcomes everyone, regardless of prior knowledge or experience. All materials included.

Intro to All Stars is designed for those who are interested in learning the foundations of All Star cheerleading. This class is a fun, low-pressure, and technique-focused introduction to the sport, making it a great fit for athletes interested in joining an All Star team as well as those simply looking to try cheer in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Ninjas develop strength and agility during this course by learning different styles and techniques to master all obstacles! We have warped walls, angled steps, salmon ladders, cliff hangers, tilted ladders; all Ninja inspired obstacles! Increase flexibility, coordination, and self-esteem that can be transferred into ninja levels testing or enhance other athletic performances. All classes are coached by an experienced Ninja Trainer.
