Community Garage Sale FundraiserCommunity EventsThe Mahtomedi Community Education Garage Sale encourages community members to donate items they no longer want to someone who can use them! This event is built to raise money for youth scholarships on the belief that giving out of generosity is more rewarding than selling for profit. All items at the garage sale are FREE* ($10 required donation at the door). Bring your own bags/box for the items you find to take home! Location: Wildwood Elementary Gym/Cafeteria *All donated items are Free with a $10 donation required at the door. All entry fees/donations will allow us to continue to offer Community Education scholarships to youth in Mahtomedi. Wednesday, July 29 | 8 am-6 pm: Donation drop off day ONLY. Creating with Clay Summer Camp (completed grades 4-7) - NEWArts, Crafts & CreativityThis class is for those who love to create things with their hands. Students will learn how to create a variety of decorative objects out of clay using a pottery wheel, slab roller and extruder. We’ll also experiment with different types of clay and colored glazes. Students are encouraged to bring an apron or towel, as well as clothing that can get messy, as working with clay is a hands-on creative process. In addition to creating pieces to keep, students will create handmade bowls for an upcoming Empty Bowls event. Empty Bowls, founded in 2012, is a community-driven initiative to raise awareness about hunger, foster community connections, and generate funds for local organizations addressing hunger and homelessness. Students will craft their own unique bowls, which will later be featured in the Empty Bowls event to help raise funds for various local organizations. This opportunity combines artistic exploration with meaningful community impact, allowing students to contribute to a cause while also learning a new skill! A $35 supply fee is due to the instructor on the first day of class (cash, Venmo, or check).
